ABOUT SAFRANBOLU
Safranbolu is 15 km from Karabük, 225 from Ankara and 450 km from Istanbul. Transportation is easy. Throughout history, Safranbolu, Hittites, Phrygians, Lydians, Persians, Hellenistic kingdoms, Romans, Seljuks and Turkish principalities dominated by various civilizations. The last time in 1460, he joined the Ottoman lands. Most of its people work in the Karabük Iron and Steel Factory. In the province of Safranbolu, trade and agricultural activities have declined. 15% of the county lands are agriculture. "Saffron", which gives its name to the county, is an important source of income.
In addition to these houses, there are historical buildings such as rock tombs, aqueducts, glass, han and hamam. Safranbolu, which was visited by many local and foreign tourists with its rich cultural heritage and natural beauties, was declared an urban and natural site in 1976. At the end of 1994 Safranbolu, which was taken to UNESCO's "World Heritage List", had the title "world city".
